Hawaii State has decided to install the video surveillance system on every school bus this year. The Hawaii Department of Education reported that camera installation is an addition to the GPS system in school bus for assisting school bus drivers in routing and ensuring safety.
Dann Carlson, Hawaii Department of Education (DOE) official, said that installation of camera is an important step in creating a safe environment for students. He added that this decision was not taken against students, but is an essential safety measure for student transportation.

The Education Department contributed $62 million to install cameras in school buses. And it was reported that security cameras have already been installed in both Hawaii and Oahu islands.
Carlos claimed that most of the school buses in Hawaii are equipped with GPS, helping him to locate each school bus in Hawaii.
