Stephen Hawking, physicist and author of “A Brief History of Time” who shaped modern cosmology has died at age 76.

His family released his death statement in the early hours of this morning at his home in Cambridge.

A  limitation with this feature is that it may not work, if a particular student wear sun glasses, or covered by clothes. At that time, RFID cards can be used for taking school bus attendance.

Hawaii State Installs Cameras in School Buses

 

Hawaii State has decided to install the video surveillance system on every school bus this year. The Hawaii Department of Education reported that camera installation is an addition to the GPS system in school bus for assisting school bus drivers in routing and ensuring safety.

 Dann Carlson, Hawaii Department of Education (DOE) official, said that installation of camera is an important step in creating a safe environment for students. He added that this decision was not taken against students, but is an essential safety measure for student transportation.

The Education Department contributed $62 million to install cameras in school buses. And it was reported that security cameras have already been installed in both Hawaii and Oahu islands.

Carlos claimed that most of the school buses in Hawaii are equipped with GPS, helping him to locate each school bus in Hawaii.

Traffic Police Organizes Meeting to Educate School Bus Drivers

Traffic police have organized a meeting with school bus drivers as well as school bus owners. The main aim of the meeting was to educate drivers about traffic rules and regulations that has to be followed while transporting school children.

The meeting was an aftereffect of the accident that happened in Etah, which killed 15 children due to visibility issue in the fog. About 1500 drivers and owners attended the meeting addressed by the Superintendent of Police(SP).

SP of Gautam Buddh Nagar said that the meeting was attended by drivers of about 50 schools in the city. They were informed about various school safety guidelines, essential traffic rules and regulations. As a part of meeting,  school bus drivers were given awareness on various precautionary measures to be taken for ensuring school bus safety.

The meeting ended with an oath supervised by the Superintendent and the drivers pledged to become responsible drivers while carrying school bus students.

25 School Bus Drivers Arrested for Drunken Driving

 

Kerala Police arrested 25 school bus drivers in the inspection conducted on Friday morning. The inspection was conducted mainly in four districts like Kottayam, Idukki, Alappuzha, and Kochi due to complaints of misconduct.

P. Vijayan, Inspector General of Police, told that the surprise inspection was based on the complaint that drunken drivers are misbehaving with the children. Hence was the inspection conducted. Also he added that there are good drivers, but 25 drivers were caught red handed in the morning.

Upendra Narayanan, a road safety expert, encouraged the efforts of the police. And he added that child safety should be given top priority and it is high time to rusticate irresponsible school bus drivers.

Punjab and Haryana High Court Inquires Report on the Appointment of Female Attendants in School Buses

 

The Punjab and Haryana High Court ask reports for school authorities regarding the appointment of female attendant within three days. This direction was circulated by the special division bench under the supervision of justice Surya Kant and justice Ajay Tiwari.

This committee took this decision while discussing the issues regarding the implementation of policies on school transportation. During the hearing, the Punjab and Haryana High Court decided to appoint female attendants in school bus carrying female students whereas a male attendant for the school bus carrying male students.

In addition to this, the High Court mentioned that there will be joint inspections done by transport departments as well as child rights protection commission to ensure that the policies have been followed or not.

RTO Decides to Remove Speed Breakers as part of Road Safety Campaign


As part of road safety campaign, the Nashik RTO decides to remove speed breakers from vehicles. Bharat Kalaskar, Deputy regional transport officer, said that their main goal is to provide road safety awareness for the safety campaign from Jan 9 to 23. Also, they would like to concentrate more on issues that needs immediate action.

Kalaskar added that they are planning to remove speed breakers which are not installed as per the rules. He claims that the speed of vehicles has definitely come down due to the speed breakers but it is causing a real trouble to two wheelers. And the issues of overcrowded vehicles will be seriously considered.

The RTO officials said that school bus safety is one of their top concerns. And they plan to give awareness to school authorities and drivers regarding the safety measures.
